Hello, everyone! I hope Monday is treating you well and that this glimpse into the world of my diary comics brings you some joy or intrigue.

I was a bit late posting the latest edition of Sketchbook Friday! due to the holiday and other chaos, so I decided to expand upon my Sketchbook-Friday-on-a-Monday with some diary comics from the “Boob Sketchbook” I shared about below.

Sketchbook Friday! (Whoops, it's Monday...)

Sketchbook Friday! (Whoops, it's Monday...)

There’s a lot going on. I really enjoy sharing my work here with you all, but it’s facts that I’m gonna be “behind.” Routines are good. I enjoy them on many levels, so one day I’ll get back to more regular posting on my self-set schedule.

The first of these diary comics explores failure as a pathway to growth.

This sketchbook from Dec-Jan 2022-2023 also contains one of my rare attempts at 24 Hour Comic Day. I have long thought this “assignment” was about drawing a bit of a comic every hour for a day. Like a little glimpse into what you’re doing that hour. Kind of diaristic but also an intense activity.

Looking it up now, I see that it’s more broadly about completing a 24 page comic in a day. So perhaps my interpretation has been too specific, but that’s what I was working on below.

Looking at this work may be visually confusing, as I start all of my drawings with a highlighter (or similarly light colored tool), then draw over it in ink to add definition. Also, my sketchbooks are made from discarded materials, including little papers of all different sizes I hand bind in with larger paper.
